We’re delighted to have been named a finalist in the Storyteller category at the Liverpool Innovation & Impact Awards 2026 for the seasonal campaign we created with Merseyrail.
The category celebrates creative work that captures identity, culture, narrative and ambition, making it a particularly fitting home for a campaign built entirely around the Liverpool City Region.
We didn’t set out simply to sell train tickets. We set out to tell stories about days out across the region and position Merseyrail as the gateway to its culture, events and places.
Through bespoke illustration and animation, we brought a growing cast of landmarks, experiences and people to life, from Liverpool Mountain and Antony Gormley’s Iron Men to Sefton Park, Southport Airshow and Merseyrail’s new Class 777 trains.
The creative system needed to flex across different seasons, audiences and channels while always feeling recognisable. Each execution told a different story, but every frame gave people a reason to go somewhere.
The work was supported by strong results: more than 7 million impressions, an 89.7% YouTube video completion rate, Google Display viewability of 87.9% against a 70% benchmark, and a 37% year-on-year increase in average engagement time on the campaign landing page.
It’s brilliant to see work created by a Liverpool-based team, celebrating the identity and character of its own region, recognised in this way.
More than 300 nominations were narrowed down to 60 finalists across 12 categories, and we’re incredibly proud to be one of the five shortlisted for Storyteller.
